Martine Roffinella was twenty-six when Bernard Pivot introduced readers to her first novel, Elle, in 1988, about a high-school student’s violent passion for one of her teachers. Since then, she has published some thirty works, including novels, short stories, poetry and essays. Her story L’Impersonne was a finalist for the Prix du roman féminin Marie-Claire in 2017.
