A man walks. Only the surrounding nature doesn’t shudder at the sight of his face: after an accident, he has become a pariah among his fellow humans, a carrier of bad luck. The man called Gueule demi discovers an abandoned infant and takes him in; with tenderness, with a wordless love, the "monster" reveals himself as a nurturing father.

Raised by an old artist, Gueule demi paints his own strange little paintings. It is through painting that he will find a place among humans again and touch the mystery that makes us human.

Gueule demi recounts the extraordinary destiny of a man in love with the sensations and colors of the world. It is a novel that is inhabited and sensitive, intensely reminding us of what connects living beings: the desire for transmission, the desperate thirst for love, the burning of absence, and the dazzlement of creation.
