The unusual girl from this unusual book only likes very specific things: the film À ma sœur by Catherine Breillat, chewing on Dragibus and Frazibus with milk chocolate, The Bold and the Beautiful, but only the scenes in which Sally Spectra appears, playing cruel tricks on her lover, the novel Le Diable à Cristoforo from the Harlequin collection, or even touching herself discreetly in the children’s section of a department store, while watching a cartoon. But what she adores most of all is her brother, an inveterate seducer with whom she lives. And all her hatred is directed towards the ones she calls the “possibelles”: her brother’s conquests, pretenders to the title of official girlfriend. She will do everything to eliminate them one by one, even if it means lying or sleeping outside in order to better follow them and pierce their weakness. Just because everyone thinks she’s fat and weird doesn’t mean she’ll let these fashionable girls threaten her world.
In À mon frère, E. L. Karhu presents a magnificent and unforgettable misfit whose malaise reveals all the superficiality and violence of heterosexual seduction relationships.
