On n’a rien vu venir describes, through the eyes of 7 families, the coming to power of the “Freedom Party” and the radical measures that followed. The 7 chapters present various facets of the extremist politics of a party that quietly made its way into power and that most people voted for because what it said sounded so good... A text that shows, with words adapted to its audience, the damage that demagogic propaganda can produce.
Clémentine Beauvais writes and translates, mainly children’s literature. She is notably the author of Petites reines and Songe à la douceur for Sarbacane Editions. She has translated numerous novels by Elizabeth Acevedo, Sarah Crossan, as well as novels by Meg Rosoff and J.K. Rowling’s The Ickabog. Her books have won multiple national and international awards. She is also a research professor at the University of York, England.
